We are excited to share a new opportunity for anyone concerned about growing authoritarianism in our country. The newly formed Shomrim: in Jewish Defense of Democracy Task Force will focus on activism and advocacy grounded in Jewish values, text, and history. Our goal is to create a space for learning, reflection, communal resilience, and capacity building as we consider how to respond thoughtfully and through a Jewish lens to the challenges of this moment. In our inaugural event on Saturday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m., Rabbi Schaefer will lead a program at CMI on how Jewish values can ground and guide civic engagement and efforts to defend democracy. The session will include learning, discussion, and shared reflection. And bagels… always bagels. If you are concerned about growing fascism and the state of our democracy and wondering how Judaism might guide meaningful action, we invite you to join us. This is a new opportunity to learn, reflect, and get involved together as a community. All are welcome.
